Volunteering - Ochsner Rush Health

Volunteering

Image of raised handsIn the heart of every community, there are individuals who give their time, talents and money to make it a better place to live. At Ochsner Rush Health, our caring volunteers play an important role in Meridian and Lauderdale County.

Ochsner Rush Medical Center Auxiliary

The Ochsner Rush Medical Center Auxiliary, formerly known as the Pink Ladies, has set the standard for volunteerism at Ochsner Rush Health for over 30 years. Although most of their duties center on the needs of hospital patients and their families, they’re also deeply involved in community projects.

Our volunteers create a welcoming environment for Ochsner Rush Medical Center patients and guests by greeting visitors, giving directions and escorting or providing wheelchairs. You may see them holding bake sales or raffles to raise funds for charity clothes closets or local schools. You will also see them helping to make hospital stays for patients and families more comfortable by sending notes and cards, providing reading materials and delivering flowers.

Volunteers support Ochsner Rush Health in its mission of being our brother’s keeper by supporting various community service projects that help others in our community.

Examples include:

  • Rush Employee Emergency Assistance Fund
  • Relay For Life
  • American Diabetes Association
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Care Lodge
  • Hope Village for Children
  • Boys & Girls Club
  • Mustard Tree
