Rush Health Systems Welcomes Andrew Gowdey, MD

MERIDIAN, MS - Rush Health Systems is pleased to welcome Andrew Gowdey, MD to Rush Medical Group and Rush Urology.

Dr. Gowdey, a graduate of University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, completes the Robotic team at Rush by providing patients with the latest techniques in Robotic Urology Surgery. He completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Urological Surgery at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Gowdey brings a brand-new technology to patients as he helps identify and treat bladder cancer. Blue Light Cystoscopy offers increased detection of primary and recurring NMIBC tumors, as well as improved quality of TURBT and tumor resection which leads to appropriate disease management decisions.

Most importantly, Dr. Gowdey brings a new minimally invasive procedure, Urolift, for BPH (enlarged prostates) that allows men to decrease or stop medications, while preserving sexual function. This procedure is performed in the outpatient setting, and most patients return home the same day.
Dr. Gowdey's specialties include the treatment of bladder cancer, enlarged prostate, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence, just to name a few.

Leslie Sanders, RN, Director of Surgical Services encourages residents of Meridian, Lauderdale County and the surrounding areas to make their appointment with Dr. Gowdey. She said, "We are fortunate to have Dr. Gowdey and his knowledge of Robotic Urology right here at Rush."

Dr. Gowdey joins Lewis N. Cunningham, DO; Stanley Wade, MD; Cynthia Scheutz-Smith, FNP; and the staff of Rush Urology. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 601.703.9226.
